금능길: Seafood ramen in Jeju Island
One of the things we were told to eat during our stay in Jeju Island was seafood ramen. This sounded amazing so after our first full day of exploring Jeju, we found a small hole-in-the-wall ramen restaurant near Hyeopjae Beach.
The name of the small restaurant is called 금능길 (cannot find English name – sorry!) and it’s kind of like a mom & pop’s type of restaurant. On Naver Maps, it has around 4.5 stars. We only ever saw 1 worker who I assume is also the owner and maybe the cook.

The vibe
So when I say hole in the wall, it is literally a hole in the wall. I am glad there was a photo of the entrance in Naver Maps because otherwise, I would not have been able to find it. It looks like it is inside some sort of a parking spot/undercover area.
Originally, I wanted to eat seafood ramen at a spot by the ocean where we have a nice ocean view. However, it was hella windy and we were cold. Also once the sun set, it was basically pitch black so there was no view.
Once inside, it is a pretty small space with around 5-6 wooden tables and chairs/bench seating. It was pretty empty when we arrived on a weekday night at 6:30pm – there was only 1 other table of an elderly couple.
We seated ourselves and the menu is posted in all Korean at the back wall, above a self-serving side dish station (get as much as you want!).
Also, there was a fat/sleepy cat lying on one of the tables 😆.
Food review
This is everything we shared between 2 people. Prices are converted 1000:1 KRW to CAD and rounded to the nearest dollar for simplicity.
Seafood ramen + steamed dumpling set ($14)
So based on their menu, we decide to order and share the seafood ramen + steamed dumpling set for 13,900 won because we had a late lunch. If you only want the seafood ramen, it is around $10-11.
The seafood ramen came in a copper metal bowl, which is exactly the aesthetic I wanted. The seafood that is included are some small octopi, shrimp, half a crab, mussels and clams, and a whole raw abalone! It was squiggling around and making Kelvin uncomfortable 😂.
The ramen broth is on the spicier side but not something we couldn’t handle (we can’t eat a lot of spice).
The steamed dumplings were pretty simple – you get 6 in the set meal with the ramen. They all have the same pork & veggie filling and they serve it with some dumpling sauce.
They were not the best dumplings I’ve had, but a nice little side with the ramen.
Final thoughts
Loewe’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a nice quick dinner at 금능길. Essentially, we only spent around $14 for the both of us.
I was pleasantly surprised with the seafood ramen because there was quite a bit of seafood in it. If I had that whole bowl to myself, I would be full and happy paying $11 for it. Although, I do hate how difficult it is to get the crab meat out of the shell. But I do understand it looks much better to put the whole crab in vs. just the shredded meat inside.
There are a lot of seafood ramen spots around the beach areas so I can’t say this is the best place, but I think price-wise it is certainly not a touristy spot and I think more locals would eat here. It is a very nonchalant place vs. the restaurants on the beach strip with huge banners and photos printed of their seafood ramen.
Sincerely, Loewe
