C Market Coffee: Brunch in Port Coquitlam

C Market Coffee is a local coffee shop in Coquitlam that opened in 2018. They create specialty grade coffees from different microlots, arranging a location where growers, families, and artisans can be connected in one single location. We first visited their Coquitlam location from a Yelp event back in 2020.

They recently opened a second location in Port Coquitlam that is now the largest cafe in the Tricities so we decided to check them out again!

Interior

C Market Coffee boasts they have the largest cafe in the Tricities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody areas) so the space is certainly large, but it’s not the largest cafe I’ve ever been to. The interior is very modern with a lot of stone/rock elements and a bright airy vibe.

They have a really long counter where you can order and then tons of tables and seating to choose from. I also really like their long shared table.

The only complaint I have about the vibe is that almost all the chairs lack back support – most of the seating are stools or backless benches so if you sit for a long time and have bad posture, your back may not be very comfortable. Especially for those who like to work at cafes.

Brunch menu

We came here to try their brunch menu, which is available from 8am – 3pm.

Drinks

Ice coffee ($3)

My boyfriend orders a simple ice coffee and it comes in a metal cup to keep it nice and cool. The coffee tastes quite strong and didn’t have a sweetener in it, but you are able to add that if you want. Simple drink, nothing to really talk about.

Pink latte ($4)

I don’t really drink coffee so I was happy they had a lot of non-coffee options for beverages. The pink latte caught my eye because I love pink. I ordered the small size but it was a really big cup so definitely worth the price if you don’t think about how lattes are actually just tea, water and some milk lol. It mostly tasted like a Chai latte.

Food

Croissanwich – smoked salmon ($12)

I was very interested in trying one of their croissant sandwiches, which they call a “croissanwich”. I chose the smoked salmon one and it came with arugula, red onion, and dill cream cheese on a multigrain croissant.

The good thing is that they give you a lot of smoked salmon so that was great, fully loaded. The dill cream cheese and salmon make a very classic combo and I also liked the arugula, I felt very healthy eating this sandwich. The only minor thing is that I really wish the croissant wasn’t multigrain lol. I like my croissants very buttery and flaky.

Pearl harvest sandwich ($10)

My boyfriend got the pearl harvest sandwich, which has turkey ham, tomato, iceberg lettuce, Harvati cheese, and homemade cranberry dressing on a beet brioche pink bun.

The bun looked tall and held together with a toothpick, but I don’t actually think it’s a lot of food (especially for my boyfriend lol). I think the cranberry dressing is a unique touch but I didn’t particularly find the bun very pink. Overall, it seemed like just an ok sandwich.

Final thoughts

Loewe’s rating: โญโญโญ

We had a light brunch at C Market Coffee and enjoyed the atmosphere and the menu. They have larger food options such as wraps and bowls and also a wide selection of sweets and desserts, but we only tried our sandwich and drinks. I found the sandwiches to be quite aesthetically pleasing but a little on the small side for the price. Drinks were decently priced and the latte again was very large.

The Port Coquitlam location would be a good place to meet up with a friend or have a little coffee chat/networking meeting as the space itself is quite nice.

Sincerely, Loewe
