LIFT Fitness & Physio: Cold plunge + sauna lounge in Port Moody

Seems like there are several wellness spots popping up around Vancouver, all focusing on cold plunge and sauna rotations. Newest to the scene is LIFT Fitness & Physio in Port Moody – they are a one-stop wellness facility that offers personal training and physio classes, plus a new Longevity Lounge that features co-ed cold plunge and sauna.
I came here during their opening week to check out the Longevity Lounge myself to try the full experience.

How it works
Full experience at the Longevity Lounge is priced at $40 per person for 90 mins.
Getting ready
We arrived with nothing but a packed swimsuit. Once arriving at the lobby, we were given sandals, a robe, and escorted to the washroom/locker room to change. The lockers all have free locks and 2 towels – one for you to bring into the lounge and one for you to shower/dry off with afterwards.
The locker room is kind of small and is intended more for a change-and-leave situation. They have a smaller washroom for toilet and sink. The rest of the changeroom is lockers, a stand-in shower, and a change-room curtain.
Once you exit the change room and enter the lounge, everything is hosted in 1 dark room.
Sauna

I am used to the rotation at Scandinave Spa where you do warm/hot to cold and then relax so I started with the sauna. This is a dry sauna and decently large enough to fit a small group of people. I liked the different aromatherapy choices available and it was set to a good temperature for us.
Also low-key I love the sauna hats they provided. So cute.
After around 10-15 mins, we left the sauna.
Cold plunge

This is a communal and co-ed experience but they do have a plan to keep it hygienic and sanitary for all. After using the sauna, you can shower off at one of the 2 showers before settling down in your designated cold plunge tub. If you registered for a session, one of these tubs will have your name on it and that will basically be your tub and everyone gets their own tub to go in.
I can’t stay too long in the cold plunge maybe 1 min at most. It is very cold!
Red light therapy

All the ladies, moms and dogs are using red light therapy now and scaring their husbands late at night with the red glow of their masks. Here at LIFT, you can also experience some red light therapy on the side after you are done with a sauna and cold plunge rotation.
There is a bench with red light stands so you basically just sit facing them with some sunglasses on. I liked to sit here and enjoy some unlimited kombucha or tea/water provided in the lounge.
Final thoughts

So that’s basically it! You continuously cycle through sauna, cold plunge and rest/red light. My body actually felt very relaxed after a few cycles of this.
The space was dim and I liked it because it kept it relaxing for my eyes and my mind. Overall, I thought the decor and layout was well thought-out and had a modern but spa-like vibe. The paintings around the facility are also quite fun!
We came as a private experience, but I feel even with other people, it would be a quiet and comfortable experience because everyone gets their own space/tub and can go at their own pace. Everything was clean and sanitary.
If you are looking to relax your muscles after exercising, or just looking to unwind/relax in some quiet time and don’t want to drive all the way out to Vancouver, I recommend you check out LIFT in Port Moody.
Sincerely, Loewe
