Meetrice Noodle: Chinese stone pot noodles in Richmond and Burnaby

Meetrice Noodle has 2 locations (Richmond and Burnaby) and is famous for their silky rice noodles in hot stone bowls. I’ve visited this spot several times and always share a bowl because the portions are big here!

We were invited to the Richmond location to try their combo for 2 ($63) and it includes:

  • 2 rice noodles 🍜
  • 2 sides 🐙
  • 2 drinks 🥤

+ Current promotion: free ice cream 🍦

The vibe

This was my first time at the Richmond location. Both locations have a very cute interior ☺️ – the Burnaby one is more green and looks like little houses inside – and the Richmond one is pink with a loud of blue sky elements. Both locations have a lot of privacy – the windows are all covered or tinted so you cannot see outside or in and inside has a cozy atmosphere. There is always people eating here!

The Richmond location has its own sauce bar! I’m not sure if the Burnaby one does.

Overall, tables are spacious and seating is plush. Everything is always clean.

Food review

2 Noodles: fish maw chicken and the white pepper tripe and chicken

For the combo, we chose these 2 noodles out of 4 options:

  1. Fish maw and chicken
  2. White pepper tripe and chicken

All the noodles here come in this piping hot stone bowl and the portion is huge 😳! Inside this steaming bowl of noodles you will find so many toppings: cabbage, tofu, fishballs, tofu skin, quail eggs, shrimp and spam. Almost every bowl of noodles will already have this variety of toppings plus whatever main protein you choose. So in our case, our main proteins were fish maw, chicken, and white pepper.

The fish maw soup noodles is their signature. It has this really beautiful golden colour and has such a heartwarming flavour. If you have never heard of fish maw before, do not be afraid 😂 (it doesn’t taste like much)! It is the bladder of certain fish and has a spongey texture. It contains a lot of collagen and is good for your immune system, skin and digestive system ✨!

The white pepper tripe broth has a strong peppery flavour so if you like bolder and saltier flavours, this may be something you want to try. The chicken meat in both soup noodles is smooth and not dry.

And of course the rice noodles are silky and smooth 👍! They basically slip off your chopsticks when you try to pick them up.

When my husband and I eat here, we usually share 1 bowl of noodles because it is that much food. So for the combo with 2 noodles, you can most likely feed 4 adults.

2 Side dishes: Takoyaki and Chicken nuggets (+$4)

With the combo, you also get 2 side dishes from a selected menu. We chose the takoyaki and the fried chicken nuggets, which is an additional +$4 to the combo.

The takoyaki (octopus balls) were pretty decent and a good one-biter.

The salty peppery chicken nuggets kind of varies depending on the day 🤔. Some days, it is perfectly seasoned and other days it can be a tad too salty. Either way, it is a good portion, fried well and has that salty peppery flavour.

2 Drinks: Sour plum juice and Passionfruit green tea

For our 2 drinks, we chose the passionfruit green tea and the sour plum juice.

The passionfruit green tea is more similar what you may find at your regular bubble tea/boba menu. It is fruity and refreshing.

The sour plum juice suited my parents’ palette more and has that sour plum flavour.

Free ice cream

Meetrice Noodle always has different promotions going on, especially if you are a member and collect points. Currently for summer, they have a promo for free ice-cream after your meal 🍦!

Final thoughts

Loewe’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a hearty dinner at Meetrice Noodle sharing their Combo for 2 for $63. With the amount of food it comes with, this is a good deal and affordable for families, couples and groups of friends 👫🏻!

We’ve tried several different noodles from this spot and I would say the fish maw is my favourite and also super worth it. My parents are a big fan of the white pepper but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Other options included in the combo for 2 is a Yunan Dai style sour soup rice noodle with snakehead fish or a Laotan pickled fish with rice.

For snacks, these items were both decent but nothing extraordinary (just something nice to snack on in addition to the noodles but the noodles is the star of the show 🤩). Aside from the takoyaki and chicken nuggets, the combo also has vinegar marinated fungus, brown sugar rice cake, spring rolls or marinated chicken gizzard for you to choose from.

And lastly for drinks, this is just plain nice to sip in between gulps of hot soups. If the passionfruit green tea and sour plum juice is not to your liking, you could also choose a lemon water or iced milk tea with oat.

Service is friendly and efficient, but a little easier if you can speak Chinese/Cantonese.

On a rainy or cold day, this could be a good alternative if you don’t want to have ramen or hot pot!

Sincerely, Loewe
