Neverland: Immersive Peter Pan Inspired Bar
I was invited to check out Neverland, an immersive Peter Pan inspired pop-up bar held at the Vancouver Alpen Club. One of my favourite Disney characters is Tinkerbell so I was super excited to go! Here is everything that is included in a ticket.
Ticket info
You can purchase your tickets online here.
Ticket prices are $45 for adults and includes 3 alcoholic beverages and a 90-minute “show”/guided journey through the Neverland. They also have dates and times that are family friendly so you can bring your kids.
Neverland Peter Pan Bar
So when you first open the door, you go up these dark staircases, which is actually decorated and lit up to look like you are traveling through the night sky (i.e. flying/following Peter Pan to the second star on the right). At the top of the stairs, a staff will check for your ticket and ID. Note that all the staff are either dressed up as pirates or is Peter Pan.
Welcome to Neverland
You are seated with your group in a seating area, where you can choose your welcome beverage – wine, beer or a non-alcoholic beverage. Note that whatever you choose will all be poured into the same sized cup.
While you sip on your welcome drink, you can take a look at how they decorated the space. There’s lots of fake foliage and lights to make it look like you are in a forest/tree where the lost boys live. There is also a pirate ship in the back as well. I think it is quite pretty how they decorated it, but it is a little dark in there and a lot of purple lighting so I actually didn’t edit my photos at all in this blog post.
Hello lost boys!
The show begins after most people are seated and have their welcome drinks. Peter Pan welcomes you to Neverland and calls you the Lost Boys. We are on a mission to save Tinkerbell, who has been captured by Captain Hook!
Actors/actresses will walk around the seating area and tell you a story. Sometimes they give you actions to do and if you respond or talk, they will respond back so it’s kind of like improv.
Play some games
In the next part of the show, everyone is supposed to participate in a series of mini-games. These games include bow & arrow shooting, a Captain Hook ring toss, and knocking down a tower of barrels. If you lose at one of the games, you have to walk the plank to the ship and pose like the Titanic.
After you succeed in each mini-game, you are given a coin and after collecting 3 coins, you can go to the bar and receive your second a drink – a skull cocktail with rum, pina colada mix and other stuff. It smokes!
Save Tinkerbell!
After you successfully help Peter Pan trap Captain Hook, we focus on saving Tinkerbell. Part of saving Tinkerbell requires us to look for a secret vial so there are several hidden throughout the room (there is 1 for each attendee). After you find a vial, you will need to mix it into your 3rd cocktail. It changes colours so that is pretty cool!
Just hang out
Now that we saved Tinkerbell, the show is essentially over and you’ve had your 3 drinks that are included in your ticket. You are free to stay at the bar and order additional drinks if you want as they have an al le carte menu:
Final thoughts
I had fun at the Neverland pop-up bar, but it was not something I expected! I thought it would just be a decorated bar where we can order special drinks. I didn’t expect there to be a whole show with actors and actresses and games to play, so that was cool and made more sense as to why tickets were $45.
I thought the story-telling was pretty good as we explored several parts of the Peter Pan world that I remember and cherish. I liked seeing Peter Pan and Captain Hook, and I liked the storyline of saving Tinkerbell. They use a lot of themes and events from the original story.
I was actually terrible at the mini-games lol it took me awhile to collect my 3 coins but the good thing is there are no losers so as long as you keep trying, you will eventually get your 3 coins. So no worries about not getting your second drink!
As for the drinks, they are pretty average. They are not fancy cocktails or anything. I liked the skull cocktail the most because it tasted like a pina colada and I liked how it smoked. The Tinkerbell cocktail tasted a little strange to me (tasted a little bit like weed… weird???) and the vials my boyfriend and I found felt kind of sticky so they probably just re-use those for every show.
Overall, we had a nice time at the Neverland pop-up bar. I think this kind of event would be fun for kids or if you have friends that are into drama/improv because interaction with the actors/actresses and other attendees can make it really funny.
Sincerely, Loewe
