Asahikawa ramen from Hokkaido 🍜

Today I’m at Ramen Taka inside Aberdeen Mall. They specialize in Asahikawa ramen from Hokkaido and during happy hour, their signature pai tan ramen is only $10 😳

We tried:
🍜 Pai tain shoyu ramen ($16): $10 durng Happy hour Mon - Fri 2-5pm. This had a rich creamy tonkotsu broth with quite a lot of noodles + 2 pc aburi cha shu, green onion, bamboo, bean sprouts, kikurage mushroom and egg. I think the char shu could’ve been more smoky/aburi.

🍜 Spicy miso tsukemen ($19): Thicker and spicy broth for dipping ramen. Don’t forget to pour in the dashi broth at the end for extra soup!

🥔 Croquettes ($8): 3 for this price is pretty good! Big pieces with fluffy potato inside and corn.

🍗 Chicken karaage with ponzu ($9): the ponzu was a really nice touch to the classic karaage

🍈 Melon soda float ($6): melon flavoured soda with ice cream 👧🏻

☕️ Coffee float ($6): this will wake you up! Also served with ice cream like a large affogato

Where to buy cute clothes from Asia? 🤔

Everyone wants to be a Chinese baddie but not all of us can read Chinese and order off of TaoBao.

Today I’m shopping at TA. Boutique (@taboutique_yvr) inside Aberdeen Square and they have some good quality stuff! Plus items are unique so you don’t look like every other girl dressed in Aritzia, Uniqlo or Lulu.

My pant sizing ranges from 4-8 and I was able to fit into all items in this store. Staff also can speak English fluently.

I got a pair of cool baggy jeans 👖 the ones you can only find in Asia! + I loved all their fluffy coats - very good quality if you touch the fabric and lining.

It’s been a hot minute since the last time I visited Lonsdale Quay, but I was so happy to see The Soupmeister (@thesoupmeistersnephew) is open again and now run by his nephew!

Nothing beats a bowl of soup ($13) and we like their seafood chowder with the focaccia bread 😋 Perfect for a chilly day.

Best yogurt I’ve tried 😳

Today I’m at Krave Kulture (@kravekultureyogurt), the new location inside the Lonsdale Quay food hall. They specialize in yogurt made with real ingredients - real milk, fruit, granola, and it’s fermented properly. The result is a creamy, high quality taste that made me realize what real yogurt is supposed to taste like.

We tried:
🍫 Dubai chocolate ($10): Popular combo with raspberry and chocolate yogurt. The pistachio and kanafeh were perfect!

🍎 Apple caramel ($11 medium): Popular flavour for Fall/Winter! The tart vanilla yogurt was actually one of my favs - it really shows you the depth of a classic yogurt with toppings.

Loewe’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food hall inside the Lonsdale Quay is new with a bar and open late. Really cool space with lots of seating and live music and events!

26 Viet Cafe (@26vietcafe) is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Kerrisdale that I can’t believe I haven’t already been to! Judging by how many folks came on a Wednesday night, I’d say y’all already knew how good this place is and decided not to tell me.

We tried (⭐️= fav):

🍗 A5 26 Chicken wings ($16 or $1 per wing during happy hour)⭐️: I heard these are Phnom Penh dupes 🤔 they were really yummy with similar seasoning and fried texture but I think Phnom Penh’s is still better. These are a close second!

🍜 P1 26 Special beef noodles soup ($21)⭐️: this is such good value because you get a huge chunk of meat with bone and it’s tender! Lots of noodles too and the soup has flavour while still being light.

🗼 A6 Snack platter ($32): Such a beautiful tower 🥹 with a little bit of everything.

🥢 V4 Special house combo ($21): generous portion of vermicelli, grilled pork, chicken and spring roll.

🦀 E1 Soft shell crab ($29): you don’t see this in every Viet restaurant! Crunchy crab and you get 7!

🥩 E6 Sizzling shaking beef fillet cubes ($26)⭐️: Tender beef cubes in a savoury sauce, perfect with egg and rice.

☕️ Ice salted cream coffee ($6): strong so strong

🍵 Matcha coconut water ($7)⭐️: never tried this combo before but it was sweet and refreshing!
