Wild Flour Pizza Co: Sourdough pizza in Burnaby
Wild Flour Pizza Co is a newly opened pizza spot in Burnaby. They specialize in handcrafted sourdough pizza and also offer plant-based options as well. They have take-out, dine in and delivery but this review is based on a takeout experience.
Food
We order 2 pizzas to share between 4 adults. All pizzas are one-size 12″.
Margherita ($18)
I’m not vegetarian but I do like to judge a pizza place based on the simplest pizza – margarita! The margarita pizza from Wild Flour uses red sauce, parmesan, fior di latte, parmesan oil, sea salt and fresh basil.
It was a very pretty pizza with even the placement of the cheese in a very symmetrical pattern. The margarita was yummy and I really liked the sourdough crust.
Hot mama ($22)
This is also a red-sauce based pizza with mozzarella, spicy salametti, pepperoncini, calabrian chilis, and thyme burnt honey. This one is actually not spicy so don’t let the spicy salametti scare you. I find this one to be a more unique/fun twist on the basic pepperoni pizza.
Hot honey dip ($3)
Our friend highly recommended the hot honey dip to pair with the pizzas so we gave it a try. The hot honey also is not spicy but it does have a bit of a kick on top of the usual sweetness of honey. I liked dipping the crust in this sauce but I found it can be a little overpowering if I dip the pizza part into the sauce, so I preferred just dipping the crust in.
Final thoughts
Loewe’s rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
We liked both pizzas from Wild Flour Pizza Co. Out of the 2, I actually prefer the margarita one more just because I am not a big fan of pepperoni. I think the pizzas were high-quality and there are a lot of different pizzas to choose from on their menu. I did find that 2 pizzas were not enough for 4 people (maybe we just eat a lot lol) so I do hope they offer larger sizes in the future! They also have a lot of different dips so would love to try other ones aside from the hot honey dip.
Sincerely, Loewe
