WINGS: Fun sports bar in Port Moody + promotions every day!

The WINGS chain first opened in 2001 and since then, they have expanded to 14 locations across Western Canada. It was a sports bar my friends and I frequented to back in our 20’s. They had the infamous bobby wings ☠️ – chicken wings so spicy that they make you sign a waiver before they serve it to you. It definitely burnt some buttholes 🔥 (and eyes if you accidentally rub your eyes while eating them) and I remember making my friends eat them as punishments or dares.
Recently we were invited to come to the Port Moody location to check out all their different promotions. In this blog post, I will recap our experience and include all the promos.
TLDR: they have a different promotion almost every day!
- Wings Special: $12 wings every Wednesday & Sunday with the purchase of a drink
- New Happy Hour Menu: Every day from 2–6 PM 3
- Lunch Specials: Available for morning visits
- Monday Deal: $3 off all burgers and handhelds
- Tuesday Vibes: All-day happy hour, half-price wine bottles, and $10 pasta
- Trivia Thursdays: Weekly trivia night every Thursday
- Monthly Events: Salsa, Despecho & Latin Nights, live bands, comedy shows, fundraisers
- Monthly performances: Live Mexican Bands and other bands

The vibe

It’s been awhile since I’ve visited a Wings and I’ve never been to the Port Moody location, but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was inside. I remember Wings being more “dingy” and dark.
There were a lot of big TVs – perfect for game nights. The restaurant was huge with lots of tables, cushy booth seating and lots of natural light in the back dining room.
There were also some game machines in the back (fun!) and the restaurant itself was very family friendly and accommodating to babies and children. Free parking in the back also.
Food and drinks review
Disclaimer: We were invited here as part of an Instagram collab, so everything featured in this post was pre-determined and also free. I have included prices in this review for transparency. Prices are in CAD and rounded to the nearest dollar for simplicity.
Empress 75 + Wildberry Margarita ($14 each)
For cocktails, we got to try the Empress 75 (4oz) and Wildberry margarita (2oz). Regular price for these cocktails are $14 but these babies are strong 😯! Definitely a plus if you prefer stronger tasting cocktails or if you like to drink.
Chicken wings ($12)

You cannot go to Wings without ordering wings!! It should be illegal.
We came on a Sunday so the wings would have been $12 with the purchase of a drink, but regular pricing for wings would be around $18 for a full portion and $3 if you want a sample portion.
They have 28 flavours for you to choose from including dry spice rubs, sweet and spicy sauce options. We ordered 1 dry and 1 sauce: West Coast lemon pepper and the Louisiana sweet. Other popular flavours include the Korean sticky sesame, peri peri, and of course they still have the bobby wings on the menu.
The wings were pretty good – juicy and on the larger side (not tiny little wings with no meat). Out of the 2, I preferred the lemon pepper more cause it had a refreshing zing to it from the lemon zest. The sea salt and cracked black pepper was well balanced.
The Louisiana sweet resembled a buffalo sauce and it was more sour than sweet. It is made with aged cayenne, garlic and honey.
Spinach and artichoke dip ($18)

This is a decent sharing appetizer that you can share with 2 people or more. The dip is topped with melted cheese, which made it a little difficult to scoop at first because that top layer is harder, but the inside was nice and soft and actually had a noticeable amount of spinach in it.
Tortilla chips were colourful but pretty average.
Garlic parm and herb fries ($11)

I am a potato girl 🥔 – you already know it – so I was like wow when I saw this giant plate of fries.
They are tossed in a blend of herb and garlic seasoning with parmesan. They also drizzle garlic aioli and serve it with even more garlic aioli.
I would say the fries didn’t surprise me and I actually found it to be a little too garlicky/overpowering.
Crispy onion burger ($21)

I love me a good burger with a nice toasted broche bun. The beef patty is 6oz, juicy and I really loved the fried crunchy onions on top – so good 😋! The BBQ sauce and garlic aioli gave it a nice smoky flavour. Size of the burger is pretty big and I would have been full on the burger alone, but it came with a generous portion of fries also.
On Mondays, burgers are $3 off!
Sticky toffee pudding ($10)

For dessert, we tried their sticky toffee pudding. It had a sweet and decadent caramel sauce with vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate and more caramel sauce.
The toffee pudding was very soft and moist. I liked it with the vanilla ice cream but actually don’t need the extra chocolate or caramel drizzle as it was already sweet enough for me.
Final thoughts

Loewe’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a fun and filling dinner at Wings in Port Moody. It definitely gave me some nostalgia to sit there and rip into those chicken wings like the hungry university student I was before. Back then, all I would order was the hat trick, but now I see Wings actually has quite an extensive menu of different options (not just wings, although those are the star).
Out of everything we tried, I like the lemon pepper wings and the burger the most. At the end of the day, I do feel like Wings is a sports bar so things like chicken wings, burgers and handhelds are what taste the best.
Price-wise, it is ok – not cheap and not expensive. I recommend you to check out their full list of different specials and promos throughout the week and it will be a better deal.
Service was excellent and the vibe was clean and fun. Whether you come with friends or your kids, it will be an enjoyable time.
Sincerely, Loewe
