Jasmine Club Chinese Restaurant: Korean Chinese food in Coquitlam

Jasmine Club Chinese Restaurant is a Korean Chinese restaurant located in Coquitlam. Korean-Chinese means this is a Korean take on Chinese food. This review is based off of a take-out order.

Combo B ($48)

Korean Chinese food has what I like to call the holy trifecta. There are 3 things you kind of need to order – the black bean noodles, the spicy seafood noodles, and a sweet & sour pork/chicken.

We order Combo B, which has all 3 of these and we go with the sweet & sour chicken instead of the pork.

Kkan Poorig Gi

Kkan Poorig Gi is the spicy sweet & sour chicken. We usually prefer this over the tangsuyuk, which is the sweet & sour pork because we just like chicken more. We also find that the batter is different – the chicken is crunchier.

This is not overly spicy but it does have some kick to it so it adds a bit of spice to the classic Chinese dish. The portion size is generous but due to the takeout process, I did find the batter to be a little soggy.

Jja Jang Myeonย

This is the black bean sauce noodles. The sauce contains pork and mostly onions. They have the noodles separated from the black bean sauce so I did not expect to eat any soggy noodles.

Sometimes I find the black bean sauce a little overpowering, and by that I mostly mean I find it too greasy. This seemed to be the case the more I ate of this, but in general I think it is an average quality.

Jjam Pong Myeonย

This is the spicy seafood noodle. The amount of seafood is on the less side but I find that most places are like this. In the picture, we had already taken a few bites so it looks like less seafood than normal lol.

The broth is on the spicier side so I could only share a small bowl before I had to give up. Again, the noodles and soup base were separated.

Final thoughts

In total, we spent $53 after tax, service and tip for our order. We did have leftover chicken for the next day and they were delicious after we popped them into our airfryer (crunchy again!).

I would say Jasmine Club is mostly average and there is nothing that exceeds my expectations for Korean Chinese food. The take-out process definitely affected the quality of food in my opinion as the batter was soggy on the fried chicken.

Prices are reasonable due to the portion sizes and the combo B is enough to feed a family in my opinion.

Sincerely, Loewe
